Vests

A safety vest does one job — making sure a worker is seen — but the right vest depends on whether being seen is the only hazard you are managing. Often it is not.

Hi-vis or flame-resistant. A standard poly/cotton hi-vis vest handles visibility on roadways, construction sites and yards where there is no ignition risk. On sites with flash-fire or arc-flash exposure, a conventional polyester vest is a genuine liability: it can melt onto whatever is underneath, including the FR garment protecting the worker. Our FR vests are built so the visibility layer belongs to the same protective system as the clothing beneath it.

Surveyor or supervisor cut. Surveyor vests carry deeper pockets, and more of them, for anyone who works out of their vest — instruments, radios, notebooks, tickets. Supervisor styles are cut cleaner for people who move between site and office and want a lighter, less bulky garment.

Sizing over layers. A vest is worn over everything else, so it needs room for a coverall in summer and an insulated parka in January. Sizing up one step from your shirt size is usually right for year-round wear.
